Toppers is a fun little take-out restaurant. Great burgers, great ice cream, and especially great poutine! The food comes in generous portions and the service is very friendly and fast. |
2 | Sat May 15 15:24:17 2004 | Ontario | Beaverton | Trillium Fare Restaurant | 3.20
Back in the early 90s, the Trillium was, hands-down, the largest and classiest eating establishment in the area, noted for its excellent roast beef and holiday buffets. It was owned by two men who were originally associated with The Briars, a prominent lake Simcoe resort. One was the manager and the other was head chef. This combination worked marvelously, however, the partnership was later severed, leaving the chef as sole owner. From that point on, the Trillium began its steady decline. Today, the restaurant is half way through being converted into a tacky pub-style establishment, where one can consume frozen chicken fingers, jalapeno poppers, and other mediocre pup fare. The old wine list is non-existent and the service is less than adequate. It has become nothing more than a watering hole, complete with stale cigarette smell hanging in the air. Dine at your own risk. This place has fallen off. |

This traditionally German restaurant offers the best food in the area. Delicious soups, sandwiches, hot meals, kids menu options, and overall excellent atmosphere make it an extremely popular dining choice among cottagers and locals alike. Its quaint, wooden, décor is particularly nice, somewhat reminiscent of a small Swiss-German ski lodge. |
4 | Sat May 15 12:34:15 2004 | Ontario | Beaverton | Beaverton Fish & Chips | 8.80
Conveniently located in the heart of Beaverton, Beaverton Fish & Chips offers a wide variety of good ol’ home cookin’, aside from making killer fish n’ chips. The owners and servers are very friendly and the restaurant is often packed on the weekends. |
5 | Sat May 15 12:30:19 2004 | Ontario | Beaverton | A 1 Restaurant & Gas Bar | 8.20
The A1 is your classic truck-stop/greasy-spoon, eating establishment. Particularly convenient for those early morning pre-fishing breakfasts or those late night half-in-the-bag food frenzies. Convenient hours and satisfying grub has made it a favourite among the local towns people. Recently, a few American food chains (McDonalds and Subway) have popped up right next door to the A1, causing a dent in business, but those new establishments do not compare with the cozy atmosphere, amusing clientele, and local tradition that make the A1 great. |
