This is a fantastic restaurant set in a historic building in small town Ontario. The Telegraph House, (home of the Pineapple Dining Room), is also a bed and breakfast that made my weekend memorable. There is a wonderful view from the porch of the harbour so you can sit out with a grandma-sized slice of homemade sour-cream rhubarb pie (Your too skinny! Have some more pie!) and a coffee and watch the fishing boats come in with their catch. You can also sit in the cozy, warm and inviting dining room and enjoy fresh Lake Erie yellow perch (lightly battered with cornmeal and panfried - breakfast came with eggs and a corn muffin - lunch with a hearty soup or salad). The food was creative, delicious, ample and comforting - especially the pies! The service is attentive and friendly - lots of smiles. Our hosts felt like long lost friends who clearly enjoy what they do for a living. The suite we stayed in was also fantastic, but this review is for restaurants so I will just leave it at that. I would definately visit the Pineapple Dining Room again. In fact, a pie-makers week-end is taking place next month on my birthday... |
