The food is beyond anything you might expect from such a small, little place. You can reserve a romantic table for two, but do not be surprised to find one or two larger groups celebrating in their favourite restaurant. On our first visit, we were told to try (of all things) the liver and onions. Apparently, the two ladies making the recommendation travel from the West Island once a month to enjoy it. My husband's uncle tried it and loved it and it is now the only item he orders when we gather at Alex H. My favourite dish is the Gamberi Shrimp: large, flat ribbons of handmade pasta in the buttery-est white sauce, served with shrimp that have been in a lovely hot marinade, with red peppers, onions and mango. I love this dish, and Alex himself is kind enough to make it for me with no onions (as I do not like onions)! I recommend this restaurant with no hesitation, and enjoy trying a new dish every time we visit. |
