Every Friday night, Philthy McNasty’s on Dunlop Street in Barrie has a poker night. This is a night where anyone can come and play (no money down) for fun. My brother, who looks forward to playing here pretty much every weekend for over a year, was recently told he was not welcome anymore. My brother is a very high functioning individual with special needs who does not have a lot of money but is an excellent poker player. I guess the manager thought that he was bad for business. Due to the fact that he didn’t spend the little money he receives every week on alcohol (but rather on a pop or some fries), and is a little different; in a very impolite way, my brother was told that he and his friends they were not ‘allowed’ there anymore. I have to say that this is pathetic and if this is the type of management running this location, people should really take their business elsewhere. Even if they were not ‘welcome’ because they were “undesirables’ (unlike ANY of the regular, heavy drinkers there I am sure), this particular manager could have been a bit more polite and sensitive to the issue. Apparently, this particular manager is lacking people skills and any sort of social decency or compassion. |
