However, when service is poor, the food ends up not tasting so great. We went to dinner at 11:00pm and the restaurant no longer serves certain dishes at this time. We were not told until our first dish had already arrived, that the other two dishes were not available. I believe there were only two dishes available at this time. We ordered the Chinese broccoli (which by the way, is not included in the original menu, if you want certain items you have to know how to speak Chinese, there is a bias towards Chinese-speaking people at this restaurant). After having cancelled our broccoli order, and thinking that it would be no problem seeing as the two other orders were not available and that they would have enough knowledge of service and pleasing the customer that they wouldn't give us any trouble when cancelling our order, we ordered two other dishes instead. We were surprised when the broccoli came anyway and even more surprised when we were charged for it. We were told that if we ordered it, then we had to pay for it. I remained calm until I went to pay for the dinner. I spoke to the lady behind the counter telling her that the service wasn't that great and really, we would have appreciated it if that item was taken off of our bill. She refused and kept repeating herself. All this over a measely $10.00. We didn't end up eating the broccoli, I paid for it and we left. We will never return. Why? 1. The servers are rude and constantly in a hurry 2. They speak about you in Chinese thinking you can't understand them 3. Food is good but I can go to one of the many other restaurants in the neighbourhood knowing that they will not fight you over $10 Many people have told me that they no longer go to Sam Woo, I keep saying I will never go back. This is the last straw. Instead of writing this to the local paper, I thought the Internet was the best way. Rather than say never go there, I say, Go there, experience the rudeness for yourself. Unless of course, you're chinese.... then they'll treat you nicely. |
