Cheap homecooked food. The Pork Cordon Blue is absolutly incredible. It is huge, homemade, stuffed with really good cheese. I can split it into 3 meals. Most of the food is weel prepared standard fair, but the chef must be from eastern europe really knows how to cook and could probably pull off a lot more than is on the menu. Incredible value. Iv'e had that Cordon Blue 3 times already. Nice place for a beer while you wait a bit for good homemade food. Perogies were also excellent!

I wish there were more German/Austrian/Swiss restaurant around to compare BUT this is a fine restaurant hidden away in the Hammer. The homemade spaetzle is perfect for all the nice meat dishes. There is a homemade quality to allt he dishes, some are not perfect and I do not favour the blue cheese sauce dishes. It is very much like eating in a good town restaurant in Austria, and the imported beer is fresh! It may not be perfect, but this place is great. Far better than the Musket in Etobicoke. Lunchtime is busy.

1st visit was very dissapointing. One reason was that the place is absolutly GORGEOUS, and our food and service fell short. Our server was preoccupied playing with Karaoke equipment to serve us promptly (and the place was empty). The seafood platter and Halibut looked great like proper upsacale Portugese dishes with big portions, steamed potatoes and veggies. But both dishes did not taste fresh of seafood, and we both had stomach aches the next day, REALLY. I will give this place a 2nd try because there appears pride in the ownership, and the interior is stunning, and maybe they chef was out that day. I' m sure if business was busier on James North, this place would rock with the freshest food.
4    Thu Aug 12 23:40:42 2004 Ontario Burlington The Rude Native Bistro 4.80
I have eaten here 4 times. While I admire the inventive menu, many of the dishes just do not work (Jerk Chicken on a Noodle Slaw, yuch). The food here is kind of like if Kelseys started an ethnic menu (Thai, Indo, Jerk), mixed everythinh up...except the student prep cooks at Kelsey are well trained! Not here. Noodles are mush, chicken tasteless, calamari rubber. The ambience is fine, service OK, but the food is embarrassing. It's just not enough to be creative, you need to know how to cook. I hate it everytime I'm dragged to a company function at this place. I guess it survives because Burlington is so whitebread, nobody knows any different. Prices are reasonable, functional wine list. (Kelseys?? Only for Burgers right?!)
5    Thu Aug 12 23:24:30 2004 Ontario Hamilton Papagayo 8.60
1st visit I had a Pepper Stuffed with Cheese as main. It was to die for. Service, ambience, and food were all excellent. Best Mexican I've had in a long time. The prices are a little higher than I like to pay for Mexican, but this aint no taco joint. For that go to El Trompo in Toronto. This is something special...the chef did not look Mexican.
6    Thu Aug 12 23:15:14 2004 Ontario Hamilton Aroma Pizza & Wings 8.80
I visited Aroma on a reccomendation as Hamiltons best Pizza. I enjoyed a very good old-school slice(s) (I spent too many years on fancy-ass Toronto slices...Amato, GIGI, CORA, to name a few ).Aroma serves classic quality pepperoni slice, and cheap. 2 slices for $2.50. Service was friendly. Good simple sauce, a fresh soft crust, large slices, good cheese, peperoni was OK. Fresh hand cut vegetables were visible in the kitchen, suggesting there is more in this pizza joint than the usual 2-,3- or 4-4-1 1 joints. I'll get a whole pie delivered next time. A lot of slices in the hammer are just awfull. Too cheap and crappy.
