I am writing this as a longtime customer who is now not very happy. I stopped in on Saturday afternoon at about 2:00 after driving from near Halifax, salivating in anticipation of my usual fest. The wife and I ordered the Rustler steaks, medium well, with baked potato and fried onions. To start, my wife wanted tea, and got a bag in a small cup of hot water.....later rectified by another waitress who brought a pot of water with a new teabag. On the first delivery, we got fries and fried mushrooms. Back to the kitchen for a rerun, and got what we thought was our order the second time. At first cut we realized we had medium rare, not medium well. Could it get any worse???? Yes it could, the potato was underdone and hard in the middle. We ate, paid and left. We won't be back. It's sad that such a great restaurant could go downhill so much.

its hours are not consistant and the service if fairly slow an example of inconsistent hours is one week they were not open on a Friday afternoon for lunch or supper what kind of restaurant does not open for a Friday.

Always avoided Subway until a friend took me there a few days ago. I had a tuna pita wrap and I can honestly say it was absolutely wonderful! It was a fairly large pita, very filling for less than $5. Premises very clean, service very good.

I ordered a veggie pizza from their takeout menu. It was missing the broccoli, zucchini, and the cheddar cheese. These 3 toppings are supposed to come with the veggie pizza. The dough was not cooked except for the outer edge and a thin layer on the bottom. I was on lunch and didn't have time to drive back so I ate the toppings and the outer crust. I was very disappointed. I won't be returning

Wow! We went to visit our ancestry, and found this place to be the best! The fish chowder was absolutely the very best, and I can not wait to make the recipe! They were so kind, that they gave us the recipe!! I'm surprise more people don't go!! It was just great!

We managed to get a last minute reservation during the week of the Atlantic Film Fest. We went with relatives who had just arrived from Vancouver and visiting Halifax for the first time. The staff - friendly,courteous and there only when we needed them. The food - delicious and presented beautifully. Even though the resaturant was busy we didn't feel pressured to leave as we lingered to enjoy our drinks and the view.

I WAS DISTURBED AT THE SIZE OF THE LOBSTER SERVED TO ME-ALLEGEDLY 1.5 POUNDS. THE LOBSTER WAS CERTAINLY NOT THAT LARGE. I BROUGHT THIS TO THE ATTENTION OF OUR WAITRESS WHO TRIED TO ASSURE ME THAT IT WAS. HAVING MY YOUNG DAUGHTER WITH ME AS WELL AS MY WIFE, I DID NOT WISH TO MAKE A SCENE, HOWEVER I BROUGHT THE MATTER UP WITH THE OWNER OF THE B&B WHO REFERRED ME TO YOUR RESTAURANT. HE WAS EXTREMELY UPSET AND EMBARRASED, AND RELATED THAT ANOTHER ONE OF HIS VACATION GUESTS HAD BROUGHT FORTH THE IDENTICAL COMPLAINT. I HAVE ENJOYED EATING LOBSTER FOR MANY YEARS AND HAVE NEVER ENCOUNTERED SUCH FRANK UNPROFESSIONALISM. TO SUBSTANTIATE MY CONCLUSION I ORDERED 1.5 LB LOBSTERS AT 2 OTHER RESAURANTS IN NOVA SCOTIA. Pizza villa pizza is the best I've ever had. I love the flavour of the sauce, the thickness of the crust is perfect, not too much, not too little. I've found that the ingredients are always fresh, the dough isn't greasy like other pizza joints, and its prepared for you in a very reasonable amount of time. It's great to know that when you ask for extra cheese at a Pizza place that you ACTUALLY get it at PizzaVilla! Please stick around, we don't know what we'd do without our almost weekly X-large pizza with bacon, ham and Xtra cheese

I don't know why. I know I wasn't at the RITZ-CARLTON. I had to place my hat on my table. The waitress never offered to take or did I see any hat or coat hooks. The Spartan is a beloved Halifax institution. The food is terrific and the service friendly. Their Greek dishes are tasty and plentiful and the rice pudding is absolutely awesome. Breakfasts are also very good, very reasonable prices.

This restaurant is a total rip-off - the cheapest item on the menu was a pasta dish that was $28!!!! How in the heck can you justify such a cost??? My husband had a small steak, a handful of dried up fries for a mere $39. My own meal was mediocre at best, around the same inflated price. Since we were being treated by relatives, we were so relieved it wasn't coming out of our pockets. I would never, never, never eat at this establishment on my dime. What a tourist trap!

I was there on Labour Day 2007 - after the lunch rush (2PM) or so I thought. I found a seat on the top deck right away, was very pleased with the view, and the sun was shining. The waitress took my drink order and brought a menu. 10 minutes later I received 1/2 of my drink order (she forgot the water) and placed my food order. I managed to finish both my glass of wine and large glass of water before my meal arrived a 1/2 hour later. Bearing in mind I only ordered a CUP of shellfish chowder and calamari. The man at the next table managed to get his chowder and fini(bleep) before I did and he arrived 10 minutes AFTER me. When my chowder finally arrived, the calamari arrived with it. Yes, I could have asked the waitress to keep the calamari warm while I ate my chowder, but I was afraid it may take another 1/2 hour to get it back. I ate my, lukewarm at best, chowder with the TEASPOON which accompanied it. The chowder was chock-full of large juicy scallops, lobster and shrimp and I'm sure it would have been heavenly had it only been hot. After finishing the chowder, needless to say my calamari was cold and not very appetizing. I finished my second drink, paid my bill of $31.35 and left 1 hour and 20 minutes after arriving and not feeling too good about the whole experience. I have eaten at the Rope Loft before and it was very enjoyable, but I must say I was very disappointed this time. The sign out front reads "casual seaside dining" but this was just a bit too casual I'm afraid.

We visited " The Trellis Cafe " on Fri 24 AUG 07 at @ 700 Pm:, and had an excellent evening. - excellent fish & vegtables - the service was prompt and the waitress was very polite & friendly - It was busy, due to Tourist Season , but we had a reservation, and it the music kept us till 1015 pm. - The Musicians were local talent - a Mrs Dunsworth & company, almost all her own lerics, and we will definately be back Keep up the excellent service & food quality Pam & Mike

This is the best food and service! Every dish we have tried has been perfectly prepared and so delicious! We visit Cape Breton each year, and visiting Mother Webb's on our long trip up from Boston is such a treat to look forward to! Mother Webb's is family friendly, too! We were never treated as rudely during our 10-day Nova Scotia trip as we were at this restaurant. The friend I was traveling with is Muslim and does not eat pork. He ordered a Caesar salad without knowing it would have bacon on it. The server asked, "Can you just pick it off?" Needless to say, he could not. Then the person acutally brought the SAME salad back all messed up with the big chunks of bacon removed, but little pieces still floating around in it! Finally, the "owner" brought out a new salad then proceeded to lecture us on how we should order in the future and how Caesar salads "obviously aren't being made right" in the United States. We threw down our silverware and promptly walked out!

We have dined many times at Swiss Chalet. I was very disappointed today in the quality of the food (I am sure that the fries had been sitting around for ages). It was noon on a Saturday and there were very few customers. Could it be for theses reasons:...coffee, first cup was cool and second cup was stone cold...had to ask for it to be taken away. I did mention to the waiter that the fries were extra greasy and seemed to be the end of the lot. Also, the sauce, which used to be thick and tasty was very thing and mostly salt... Now for the appearance of the restaurant. The restrooms were smelly....the seat was falling apart and the waitress was standing at the bar with the tray BETWEEN HER LEGS...THIS IS A TRAY THAT PEOPLES' FOOD IS GOING ON......do these people have no training at all.? For over $26.00 it had to be one of the worse meals I have had..could not finish my lunch but brought some of it home...think it will go in the garbage. It is a shame because years ago we ate at the Halifax restaurant a lot...I would and will never go back to that location. Clean up your act.

here is a comment,,,what exactly are you trying to pull with your employees,,,slavery was abolished many years ago,,,there are labour laws in the province of nova scotia about breaks for employees,,,not allowed to leave the store or just for the required two 15 minute breaks as required,,,,perhaps a visit from the local or national media may be in order to bring to light the way you treat your employees,,hopefully you will read this, if you can tear yourself away from the remote monitoring system you have on the employees,,,

This place has new owner. This is not a place I would ever recommend. It is filthy. And the guy who runs it along with who I think is his mother is creepy. They have recently added a dollar store to the mix and I have never seen so much junk in my life. The previous owners would be disgusted. About 5 years ago I would have been able to say that this place had the best donair around.

This deep fried fish is amazing. I have never had better. The fries on the other hand leave a lot to be desired. When this restaurant first opened they were serving home cut fries, now they are boring frozen ones. Either way the fish is awesome. My daughter also enjoys their chicken fingers

At one time, this was the place to go for an all day breakfast, however, it has gone downhill over the last few years. The portions have become smaller as the price went up. Would highly recommend going to Mary's Cafe on Robie Street - a much better deal with generous portions and excellent service.

I have visited this restaurant many, many times however my recent visit(July 30, 2007) was a disappointment. I ordered the fish with potatoes instead of fries, and could have rolled the potatoes up and bounced them. The fish was as good as ever. My biggest complaint was the noise. We had to sat directly in front of the cash register, and the staff were putting the dirty dishes in containers directly beside us(not very gently). By the time we left, I had the beginning of a headache from dishes being thrown into the container. Perhaps a "quieter" method of getting them to the dishwasher could be arranged. On a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being the highest noise level, at times the noise would have reached 9. Not a very pleasant experience.

Went to the restaurant for the much-raved about breakfast, on July 1, 2007. Waited 5 minutes to be seated. Then 10 minutes for coffee and have order taken. The 2 of us ordered the Western omelette. THIRTY-FIVE minutes lated we were served the omelette, toast, home fries (8 - counted them as I ate them - all that I ate!) and a SALAD (with breakfast? New to me) My omelette was COLD, while my wife's was fine. I had Coffee with 2 top up while waiting for meal, 2 bites of omelette and 8 home fries for my half of $16.51. Manager? at cash apologized for delay. When I mentioned Omelette was cold all he offerred was the comment that the grill is really big and both should have been hot. Ko's has been a part of Bwater for many many years. I've eaten there since I was a kid. It has it's good times and not so good times. Over time, the chefs change and so does the quality of the food. I didn't like the fact that i had to use my drinking water to clean the spots off my utensils (I did not drink my water after that). the wait for our food wasn't that bad but, when the food got to us it was very poorly made, if it was even made at all; it seemed as if I were eating leftovers from the night before that was reheated (or in this case refried). I definitely will NOT eat there again. They need a new chef or at least a chef willing to cook and serve fresh food.

Last fall we visited Halifax and on our way to Cow's Bay to pick up lobster(we stop by this small local family owned restaurant). To our amazement the food was prepare fresh and tasted great.I would definitly reccomend the cantonese chow mein.And by far the best tasting egg rolls I had.The woman who own the restaurant was so pleasant and friendly, made us feel part of the family. I would recommend anyone visiting the small town of Dartmoth N.S to stop by,surely a "downhome"experience!

This restaurant has the best food! We have travelled all across Canada and this is the best Chinese food we have experienced. The egg rolls and plum sauce are perfectly crisp and tasty. Very good food; however, I couldn't believe we were charged .80 cents for mayo on a cheeseburger. We had ordered burger with mayo only, received mayo in a tiny paper cup as a side, and were charged .80 cents. Not that .80 cents would break me but would we be charged .80 cents for ketchup, .80 cents for mustard, .80 cents for relish, and .80 for onions too had we ordered the works on the cheeseburger. We didn't order a "side" of mayo. I own a seasonal restaurant and don't even charge when a person does order a side of mayo which is happening quite often now. I realize that mayo is not the "norm" probably for a cheeseburger; however, there were no other condiments ordered and I felt it was a bit much to charge for the mayo! However, I love your decor and your food is still good.

Have been going to MT in Hfx 3-4 times/yr since it opened. Was there on Saturday (Sept 9) and really noticed that the place is getting dumpy. The carpets are frayed, the walls are in need of washing and painting (food splattered on them) and the ladies room was like that in a gas station -- dirty floor, no lock on one door, mirrors turning black, wobbly toilet seat... Plus the whole restaurant had a dirty, musty smell. As for the food, the salad bar was good (but I missed the pate), my shrimp skewers were cold and my Mom asked for her prime rib to be medium rare and the waitress came back saying only medium and up was available. What's with that? Told a friend whose daughter works at MT and she said the staff has been telling owner for years that the restaurant needs a make-over, but he won't do anything. I'm obviously not the only one with this opinion -- use to have to wait for a table, now you just walk right in.

First time at "New" location; very disappointing. NO view, atmosphere is more like a hotel restaurant and product is not nearly as good as it has been in the past. Found plastic wrap, or something similar, in one of the main courses, a hair in another. Of the four of us, two of the meals were just barely warm when it was served. Caesar salad, still made at the table, was not very good as the waiter really didn’t know what he was doing and the end result was not very good at all. Shrimp Flambé......flavor is considerable less than that from the previous visits.....no longer done at the table, so how is it they can still call it flambé? Comes to the table as is from the kitchen where it was supposedly flambéed. I believe that the portion sizes have all gotten smaller as well with the move but the prices remain at the old level. We do not mind paying for a good restaurant meal once in a while, but this overall experience was very disappointing.

My husband and I went in for supper one evening. When we got to our table we thanked the waitress, she said nothing, just walked on. She never smiled at all during our stay. In the middle of his meal, the waitress comes over to me and says they BURNED my FOOD, and they were preparing a new meal. Meanwhile, my husband is almost done. I give her a look, and she says she will see if I can get my meal for free. Later she comes back and states that her manager said we didn't have to pay the tax. I couldn't get my meal for free. Not that I would eat it there, I would have left with it. That was it, like $3 off for waiting 45 minutes. I don't think so. We didn't come out to a restaurant to take turns watching each other eat. I say ok, but then I went up to cancel my order and left. I will never go back.

For our meal, we had an appetizer of Cactus Cut Potatoes, and ordered the Boston Royal pizza for our main course. At $7.69, the potatoes were a great disappointment. We asked if they were spicy before ordering, and were told that the potatoes themselves 'weren't that bad,' but that the dip they come with was very hot. Basically all we got was a small portion of some deep fried potato slices that weren't seasoned at all as far as we could tell, and a tasty, but tame sour cream dip. It definitely didn't fit the definition of spicy. Our analysis: overpriced, and nothing special. The pizza on the other hand was awesome. Although one of the advertised toppings were missing (no mushrooms!), the crust was nice and crisp, the veggies fresh, the meats tasty. The shrimp were small in size and quantity, probably the little salad ones that come out of a can. Overall a very yummy pizza, but at $24.25, a little pricy. For service, we sat in the sports bar side of things. It wasn't busy, but the service wasn't impressive at all. We were given our food, and the server didn't come back again until the meal was nearly finished. She and several other servers seemed to be more occupied in talking to each other than they were with taking care of their patrons. I wouldn't let the service stop me from trying it again, maybe it was just a bad night. They certainly do pizza right. But the price would probably prevent me from visiting on a regular basis.

after arriving to eat we were told we could be seated but would have to be out by 10 this is a 9:45 and on our next visit the tables did not have eating utensils on them or napkins in place after make our order the waitress came back with pepsi instead of root beer as asked. overall i was very unsatisfied with the service offered to us by our server debbie

China town is overpriced. The food is average, and it seems, as a guest, that you are paying the higher prices because of the lavishly decorated dinning room. The dinning room boasts a waterfall, fish tanks, and a straw-roofed bar situated in the centre of the room and impressive, clean, washroom facilities. Do not be fooled by the name, there is better value in Halifax for Chineese dinning.

The KEG offers Halifax's most consistantly good steak. Generous extras like unlimited bread, and large salads with the purchase of a main course really compliment the overall experience. Courteous staff and a large menu selection sets the Keg appart from all other steak houses. The Dinning room itself is a bit bark, and it could benefit from a face-lift. Try the Mushrooms Neptune as an appetizer, and the 'Bily Miner' Pie for dessert when you go!!

The server was very nice and tried to be accomodating, however we had to wait an hour for our appetizers, and could hear the kitchen staff yell at her when she would ask not only for us but for the other tables around us. When she brought the appetizers, we had mussels and mozza sticks, the mussels were half cooked and the sticks were overcooked to the point that the cheese was gone. We were told then that our meals would be just as long in wait. The restaurant was by no means full, I have been there at lunch on busy days and seen the place at full capacity. Will not be going back even thought the server was great. If a restaurant cannot reach the bar on a "special" day, how am I to trust them on a regular basis?

Wonderful food. One of the best Chinese restaurants outside Chinatown in New York City. Ingredients fresh. Each dish has a distinctive taste as opposed to so many Chinese restaurants where the taste and sauces are indistinguishable. The atmosphere isn't great but the food makes this an excellent dining experience.

I have eaten there many times over. Their burgers are a great old fashioned burger. They have awsome healthy food like chicken wraps and BLTS. But thier resturant is built on the best ice cream and sundays on a hot summer day along with pleanty of amusements to go along with that like go-carts, minigolf, batting cages, arcade room, bumper boats, bumber cars and a train for the little kids. Overall a great place to visit.

Jake's has the best donairs on the planet.They are huge in comparison to those found anywhere else in Canada. Their assorted subs are oven toasted. The garlic fingers with donair sauce are brilliant and even better with bacon and the pizza with the works is unbeatable. I haven't found any place anywhere that can beat any of it.

Delicious Italian food; we have eaten there twice and really enjoyed it both times. Not fancy or pretentious, with a nice, friendly atmosphere and it's good value for such nicely prepared food. I'd go there again in a minute!
